Pings
Twelve Bonded-written cards you can send a friend, the cooldown, and why a ping carries no custom text.
A ping is a small card that says one thing — "thinking of you", "good luck", "goodnight" — with no reply needed and no ritual attached.
Sending pings requires Premium. Receiving them does not. Free members see the button, and tapping it opens the paywall.
Send a Ping
- Open Home > Pings > send, or tap the pill on a friend's row, or Send a ping on their profile.
- Choose who it is for, if you did not start from a person.
- Choose a vibe.
- Check the preview of what they will see, then send.

What a Ping Cannot Carry
Pings contain no custom text. Every word a recipient reads is written by Bonded. There is no message field, and the server refuses one even if an older build tries to send it. This is what makes pings safe by construction rather than by filtering.
Pings never reveal ritual answers, flags, or Private Pulse values.
Cooldown and Expiry
- You can ping the same person again after a cooldown — 60 minutes by default. The button shows when the next ping is available.
- A ping card stays readable for 24 hours, then disappears from the inbox.
- Unread pings show as a badge on the Home tab.
Notifications
The recipient gets a push notification only when Bonded has device permission and Settings > Notifications > Pings is on. Muting one person keeps their pings in your inbox but stops the phone lighting up.
Ping Troubleshooting

"Ping again in …" or a 429 | The per-connection cooldown is still active. | Wait until the time shown. |
PING_KIND_INVALID | The vibe is not recognised by the server. | Update the app and try again. |
| A ping you were sent has vanished | Pings expire after 24 hours. | Ask them to send another. |
| No notification arrives | The in-app switch, device permission, or a mute may be in the way. | Check Settings > Notifications, Device notifications, and whether that person is muted. |
| The composer asks who it is for | You opened it from Home rather than from a person. | Pick someone from the list, then choose a vibe. |
